Insured Shipping Policy

       Insured Shipping Policy

At Crown and Consign, we specialize in luxury, high-value, and pre-owned merchandise. We recognize that secure and dependable transit is critical to our client experience. This Insured Shipping Policy outlines the exact scope, terms, limitations, and operational requirements governing shipping protection for items purchased through our platform. By placing an order with Crown and Consign, you acknowledge and agree to the terms set forth in this policy.

  1. Pre-Owned Item Condition Baseline and Scope of Coverage
All merchandise offered and sold by Crown and Consign is pre-owned, used, or vintage unless explicitly declared otherwise in writing. Prior to dispatch, every item undergoes rigorous physical inspection, high-resolution photographic archival logging, and condition verification.

The documented physical condition of an item at the precise time of carrier tender and shipment creation represents its definitive baseline state. The condition of the item established at the time of shipment does not change during transit, nor does shipping insurance alter, upgrade, or remedy pre-existing cosmetic characteristics, normal pre-owned patina, or prior operational wear. Shipping insurance applies exclusively to distinct, verifiable physical loss, total destruction, or carrier-caused damage occurring strictly between carrier acceptance and final delivery.
  2. Covered Shipments and Policy Eligibility
Shipping protection coverage applies automatically to all completed customer orders with a net merchandise subtotal exceeding $35.00 USD. Coverage officially commences at the exact timestamp when the package receives its initial origin scan by the designated shipping carrier and remains actively in transit.

Coverage officially terminates exactly three (3) business days (72 business hours) following the official carrier delivery timestamp recorded at the destination address. Protection applies exclusively to packages dispatched using an official, authorized Crown and Consign shipping label and routed through our approved commercial shipping carriers and services. Any package dispatched using unauthorized third-party labels, unapproved courier services, or freight forwarders is strictly excluded from coverage.
  3. Maximum Insured Valuation and Financial Limitations
The maximum insured liability under this policy is strictly capped at $5,000.00 USD per individual shipment. In accordance with insurance compliance regulations, shipping costs, expedited freight charges, sales tax, customs duties, import tariffs, and third-party administrative processing fees are explicitly non-insured and cannot be recovered in any claim settlement.

While Crown and Consign permits a maximum coverage threshold of $5,000.00 USD, total claim recovery can never exceed the maximum coverage ceiling mandated by the underlying commercial carrier or insurance underwriter for the specific category of goods shipped. For all claim evaluations, the "covered value" is defined exclusively as the actual net purchase price paid by the customer for the item itself (excluding fees, shipping, and taxes), as substantiated by the original Crown and Consign sales order receipt and payment transaction record.
  4. Excluded Shipments, Losses, and Uncovered Events
All shipping protection is subject to the terms, conditions, and exclusions enforced by our third-party insurers and commercial parcel carriers. Crown and Consign cannot promise, extend, or guarantee coverage for losses or circumstances that carrier policy excludes. Exclusions include, but are not limited to:
    • Prohibited, restricted, or hazardous materials under applicable transportation laws.
    • Loss or damage resulting from improper or inadequate packaging prepared by a customer during a return shipment.
    • Inaccurate, false, or incomplete address records, recipient names, or customs value declarations provided at checkout.
    • Transit delays, logistics interruptions, route diversions, or market losses caused by carrier scheduling changes.
    • Ordinary wear and tear, cosmetic degradation, inherent vice, or latent defects inherent to pre-owned merchandise.
    • Packages left unattended, stolen, or misplaced after a verified carrier delivery scan ("porch piracy").
    • Seizure, confiscation, or hold by customs authorities, law enforcement, or government entities.
    • Losses caused directly or indirectly by acts of war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, nuclear hazard, or extreme force majeure weather events outside human control.
  5. Packaging Standards and Security Measures
To ensure claim validity, Crown and Consign adheres to strict commercial packaging standards, utilizing tamper-evident seals, heavy-duty protective inner layers, and reinforced outer shipping containers appropriate for high-value merchandise.

For shipments meeting specific valuation thresholds or containing high-risk goods, Crown and Consign reserves the right to mandate signature confirmation, restricted delivery controls, real-time tracking, or specialized carrier security escorts. Customers cannot opt out of carrier security protocols requested by Crown and Consign for high-value packages.
  6. Delivery Determination and Risk of Loss
Legal delivery is definitively determined by official carrier records, including tracking events, physical delivery scans, carrier GPS spatial data, or physical/electronic signature records collected by the delivery driver.
    • Misdelivery in Transit: A package delivered to an incorrect address due to carrier routing error is covered, provided official carrier documentation confirms the error.
    • Transfer of Risk Upon Delivery: Once the carrier logs a status of "Delivered" at the designated delivery location provided at checkout, risk of loss, damage, or theft completely transfers to the recipient. Theft occurring after verified carrier delivery is excluded from coverage.
    • Refused and Unclaimed Deliveries: Packages refused by the recipient, left unclaimed at carrier pickup centers, or returned without explicit prior authorization from Crown and Consign are ineligible for transit insurance protection.
  7. Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Package Reporting Procedure
In the event of a transit-related incident, the customer must report the issue directly to Crown and Consign in writing within three (3) business days of the carrier's posted delivery date (or within 3 business days of the estimated delivery window in cases of complete non-delivery/loss).

In cases of physical damage or partial loss:
    • The recipient must immediately stop unpacking and retain all original shipping materials, outer corrugated boxes, internal bubble wrap, polybags, hangtags, and damaged goods exactly as received.
    • The recipient must take clear, high-resolution photographs of the outer packaging, shipping label, box integrity, interior packing materials, and all damaged areas of the item.
    • Crucial: Customers must contact Crown and Consign directly and must not open duplicate, independent, or conflicting claims directly with the transit carrier unless explicitly instructed in writing by our support team. Filing competing claims invalidates insurance processing and delays resolution.
  8. Claim Review, Investigation, and Resolution Options
Crown and Consign acts as the primary representative to file, manage, and process all official claims with our insurance underwriters and freight carriers. Every submitted claim undergoes formal investigation, which may include package inspections, driver interviews, carrier tracking audits, and fraud verification.

Resolution options for approved claims are granted at the discretion of Crown and Consign and insurer guidance, and may include:
    • Professional repair or restoration of the item to its documented pre-transit baseline condition.
    • Replacement with a comparable pre-owned item of equivalent valuation and specification, if available in our inventory.
    • A refund or monetary reimbursement credited to the original payment method, up to the covered net purchase value.
Please note that third-party carrier claim investigations typically require 14 to 45 business days to complete. Crown and Consign cannot guarantee specific claim outcomes or expedited timeframes controlled by third-party underwriters.
  9. Mandatory Customer Cooperation and Documentation
Claim approval requires prompt and complete cooperation from the customer. When requested by Crown and Consign or our insurance representatives, the recipient must provide:
    • Detailed photographic and/or video evidence of the box, packaging, and damaged merchandise.
    • A signed and dated Sworn Statement of Loss, Affidavit of Non-Receipt, or Police Report (required for claims involving suspected carrier theft during transit).
    • Access for carrier inspectors to perform an in-person physical inspection or pick up the damaged packaging.
Failure to supply requested documentation, providing contradictory information, or refusing carrier inspection requests within seven (7) calendar days will result in immediate claim denial.
  10. Return Shipments and Insurance Scope
Original outbound shipping protection strictly terminates upon delivery and does not extend to return transit, exchanges, or repair shipments sent back to Crown and Consign.

If a return is authorized, the customer or sender assumes full responsibility for packaging, shipping, tracking, and procuring adequate insurance coverage for the return shipment. Crown and Consign assumes no liability for returned merchandise lost or damaged in transit back to our facility unless dispatched using an official return label created and issued directly by Crown and Consign.
